Jennifer lives and works as a professional artist in South Devon. Having completed an art degree, she began her career in London as a graphic designer and, whilst working for BBC Publications, gained considerable experience as a book designer and illustrator. Her passion for all aspects of her profession is unbounded. She accepts commissions for portraits, book illustration, also architectural drawings and paintings for estate agents and developers. Jennifer is asked to demonstrate and tutor many courses and workshops in England, as well as painting holidays in France and Spain. For the last 10 years she has had many successful exhibitions and frequently participates in ‘Open Studio’ events. Jennifer is also ‘Artist in Residence’ at Ways With Words, a literary festival held annually in July at Dartington. Jennifer is an experienced tutor and specialises in traditional methods and skills based on observation and draughtsmanship. She uses the medium to its full potential, accepting its advantages and disadvantages whether it is watercolour or pen and ink. From figure drawing to architecture to painting flowers, these are all subjects that she enjoys. She is happy to work with all abilities of student and gives much one-to-one help at every stage. Her students finish the courses feeling inspired and motivated by the knowledge and skills gained. They are impressed by her enthusiasm and encouragement, and are given many hints and tips along the way. Jennifer likes to encourage students to experiment with a different medium or technique during the holiday. Jennifer also encourages the use of sketchbooks.
