Charles is an experienced artist and teacher who has taught in specialist art colleges and universities in the UK and overseas. He was Dean of the Faculty of the Arts and Humanities at the University of Cumbria before he moved to live in Italy nine years ago. The media he uses regularly to make large pictures on paper and canvas are pastels, watercolour and acrylics and he can offer support and tuition in all these media. His exhibitions have toured with the Royal Shakespeare Company and been shown in public galleries in the UK, Italy and South Africa. His regular themes include making pictures about water, landscape and people engaged in activities they enjoy.
