Hotel Il Leccio, Strada in Chianti, Tuscany

We are so excited about this wonderful find.  Hotel Il Leccio has been in the "Landi" family for nine generations. There is an Old Medieval Tower House from the 1200, a chapel and the Villa.  The Tuscan Villa was once used as a country residence where the family gathered in the summer. During the nineteenth century it became a prosperous farm and more recently it has been converted into a beautiful country hotel.  The Villa has been transformed magnificently ensuring there are modern facilities as well as retaining many of its historical features.  It is like stepping into a museum.  The recent restoration has brought back the original splendour of the halls, many painted with frescoes.  The original antique furniture and chandeliers remain in place, as well as the original kitchen with all its original pots and pans.  There is a large commercial kitchen where the food is prepared.  Giada and Paolo, her husband, have created a place where guests feel instantly at home.  The property is surrounded by  Italian gardens, olive groves and vineyards.  There is a large pool with panoramic views over the Chianti hills offering our guests a quiet retreat.  The town of Strada in Chianti is just a five minute walk from the property with banks, bars and restaurants.  The centre of Florence is only 15 kms away.

Giada, the owner/chef, has a passion for cooking passed down by her mother.  We were very impressed by Giada and Paolo's enthusiasm  for wanting to create something very special for their guests.  You will wake up to the smell of cakes, bread and croissants baked on the premises each morning.  The delicious buffet breakfast contains fresh fruit, delicious homemade jams, golden wildflower honey and fresh yogurt, refreshing fruit juice, crispy cereal and also hams and cheeses for those that prefer a salty breakfast.  Lunches and dinners will be prepared each day by Giada using produce grown in the kitchen gardens.  These will be served on the outside shady terrace if weather permits.  If not it will be a special treat to eat in the magnificent dining room with its 18th century ceramic chandelier.

We are sure our guests will love this special hotel.  It has all the requirements we seek.  Wonderful picturesque location offering lots of vistas for our guests to paint and draw.  It is owner managed, which always guarantees the care and attention to detail necessary when running a successful hotel. All the rooms are decorated by a person who has very high standards and all with wonderful modern bathrooms.
