Everyone who visits Saragano in Umbria falls in love with it. The hotel accommodation is of a very high standard and the lunches and dinners prepared by Amalija are first class. The views from Saragano over the surrounding green Umbrian hills are wonderful making this a perfect location for a painting holiday. There are lots of painting opportunities in the garden and also in the nearby Borgo of Saragano. Tuition will take place each morning and on the days when there is not an excursion guests can continue with their work or relax around the pool. Non-painting guests have the opportunity to join in the cooking lessons which take place in a Cooking School on the property. The Count, who owns the property, produces wine and olive oil. On one evening there will be wine tasting in the nearby winery. There will be an excursion to the medieval hill top town of Montefalco, where there is an interesting museum with frescos by Benzzoli Gonzolli, nice shops, bars and restaurants. There will be a visit to Bevagna to paint/draw and to see the recently uncovered Roman mosaic floor of an old bath house. Pick up will be from Rome or Perugia Airport.
" As you can see by the five stars I've rated the holiday I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The situation of the hotel is perfect with such wonderful views to paint that it was hardly necessary to venture out. If you did the village was only just up the road and the walks through the countryside were beautiful. Because our tutor Fiona was so helpful and enthusiastic I learnt so much about all aspects of art.""This holiday was a totally wonderful experience. The hotel was fantastic, the owners & staff were excellent. the food and wine were faultless. I can't express my thanks enough to Sheila for her professional organisation of this wonderful holiday, and for her total commitment to making sure that everyone had a fabulous time, whether painting or cooking. I thoroughly recommend anyone wanting to enhance their skills at painting or cooking in the Umbrian hills of Italy. I hope to visit Saragano again in the near future. Best wishes".
