This painting holiday in Cortona, Tuscany is a town based art vacation. Painting and sketching will take place in the town of Cortona each day. On one day guests will be taken to Lake Tresimeno to paint by the lake followed by a boat trip to the island Magiore for lunch. There will also be an excursion to Montepulciano. Montepuciano is well known for its delicious wine. There will be a guided tour of Montepulciano and the underground wine cellars including a wine tasting. Each evening guests will get together for dinner in different excellent restaurants in the town. Guests can choose from the menu which will suit those that have special dietary needs. The hotel is centrally located in the town. Each guest will occupy a double room with en suit facilities. Each room as small balcony overlooking the valley. This is a very special week in Cortona as the town has a medieval festival. The town’s people celebrate the marriage between Francesco Casali and Antonia Slimbeni from the 15th century. The representatives of the five districts of Cortona dress up in medieval costume and come together to pay tribute to the newlyweds. The flag bearers and musicians illuminate the square with torches, swords and drums which makes an impressive sight. The five districts of Cortona take part in archery contests and flag throwing demonstrations. It is a truly unique experience.
