Villa Il Leccio has been in the "Landi" family for over nine generations. It was once used as a summer retreat and has recently been transformed into a luxury hotel using modern technology but maintaining all the fabulous historical qualities this property has. The hotel is surrounded by its own beautiful gardens, olive groves and vineyards. There is a large swimming pool with stunning vistas over the surrounding Chianti countryside. Painting tuition will take place each morning and late afternoon around the property. Florence is only 15 klms from the hotel. There will be an afternoon excursion to Florence with guide. The tour will start at Casa Buonarroti to see Michelangelo's earliest works. The group will then go to The Bargello Museum to see more of Michelangelo's work including "Bacchus" and "Brutus". Finally the group will visit The Academia Museum via The Duomo to see Michelangelo's "David". In the Villa there is a wonderful Music Room with Grand Piano. On one evening, after dinner, we have organised for an opera singer to perform some opera Arias. There will also be a wine tasting evening in a local vineyard. All guests will occupy a comfortable double room with en suite facilities. You will wake up to the delicious smell of croissants and bread being baked in the Villa kitchen by Giada, the owner. Meals, using produce from the kitchen garden, prepared by Giada, will be served on the shady terrace with stunning views over the Chianti hills, if weather permits, or in the magnificent dining room with its wonderful 19th century ceramic chandelier. On the last day, Saturday, guests will have a free day to visit Florence to do a bit of shopping if they wish or enjoy the tranquility of the hotel. Pick up will be from Florence Airport.
